Port Saint John has set a target to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 60 percent below 2016 levels by 2030. This target reflects the port's role as a key economic driver in the region and its responsibility to plan for a lower carbon future.

Working with Green Economy New Brunswick, the port completed a detailed emissions inventory, identified priority areas for action, and developed a plan that ties climate initiatives to broader operational goals. The port’s leadership hopes that this target will encourage other large organizations in the province to evaluate their own emissions and consider how they can contribute to a more sustainable regional economy.
